Andhra Pradesh government today extended the ban on CPI (Maoist) and its several front organisations for a period of one year from August 17.
The government had declared the top Naxal outfit as an unlawful association in 2005 for one year and has been extending the ban every year since then.
"The government has reviewed the matter and is of the opinion that the Communist Party of India (Maoist) is continuing to indulge in unlawful activities," a Government Order (GO) issued by the Chief Secretary said here.
"Its unlawful activities, if not stopped, will constitute a serious danger and menace to public order, peace and tranquillity," it said.
The front organisations against whom the ban has been extended include the Radical Students Union, Radical Youth League and Rythu Coolie Sangham, among others.
