"We have raided the illegally-run gutkha manufacturing unit by breaking its lock as its owner was not present," said inspector in charge, Chamakhandi police station, AK Parida.
The seized items included various machines to manufacture and pack gutkhas, empty sachets and raw materials. The worth of seized items was estimated around Rs one crore, he said.
The unit was sealed after the raids.
It was four such illegally run units in and around Berhampur town unearthed by the police within a week. Earlier, police had unearthed such at Bhutapalli and Makapalli under Berhampur Sadara police station and Bada Bazar area under Bada Bazar police station limit.
