Anti-encroachment drive launched ahead of I-day in Delhi

A mega anti-encroachment drive has been launched by Delhi Police in order to decongest the densely populated areas of Central Delhi ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.
The drive which was launched around a week ago and has been appreciated by locals.
According to a senior Delhi Police official, small time shopkeepers and hawkers have been removed from areas like Meena Bazar, Urdu Bazar, Matia Mahal, Motor Market among others.
"Areas in vicinity of Jama Masjid were especially targeted in order to ensure smooth movement of traffic and security ahead of the Independence Day," the official said.
