Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today held talks with officials of National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) to explore possibilities of reconstructing the Bhavan here.
"It is just an initial discussion. Yes, we called, we discussed with them (NBCC)... They are giving proposal by the end of this month," AP government's special representative in New Delhi, Kambhampati Ramamohan Rao told reporters here.
The plan of reconstructing the Bhavan comes in the wake of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and the land in New Delhi, housing the Bhavan, will have to be divided between the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
According to TDP parliamentary party leader Y S Chowdary, a modern building was sought for the utilisation of Telugu people.
He further said that they would be considering whether to improve the facilities within the building or to demolish and rebuild it.
The Andhra Pradesh Bhavan is one of the most sought after state houses in Delhi, especially for its spicy South Indian food. Situated near India Gate on Ashoka Road, adjacent to the Hyderabad House, the building has accommodations for official guests visiting Delhi from the state.
