Demanding to put an end to open cast mining in the districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam, state BJP president G Kishan Reddy said the government should undertake underground coal mines instead of allowing open cast mines.
He said that villagers from about 350 villages have lost their crops and many were forced to migrate to other places in search of livelihood after open-cast mines were allowed in and around their villages.
Meanwhile, replying to a query, Reddy said his party would extend support to Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) which has decided to organise protests on the occasion of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit here tomorrow. The prime minister will be here to attend Cop-11 conference.
The TJAC has announced that protests would be organised in support of Telangana state.
