Army Chief General Bikram Singh today called upon Infantry Commanders to pay due attention to junior leadership, man management and human resource development.
In his address at the 32nd Infantry Commander's Conference at the Infantry School in Mhow, he also emphasised the need to uphold cherished core values of integrity, loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, courage and honour, an army statement said.
He expressed his confidence in the level of operational preparedness of the army.
The conference is a biennial event aimed at taking a holistic review of operational, training and management aspects of the Infantry, which is crucial to retaining, maintaining and enhancing its role as an 'ultimate arm', it said.
General Singh is presiding over the conference and a cross-section of Infantry Officers, including the Formation Commanders and Commanding Officers, are attending it.
The deliberations will continue over three days, it said.
"The conference will provide an appropriate platform for eminent speakers and professionals to share their thoughts, as also give an opportunity to introspect in a frank and forthright manner the matters related to Infantry in a fresh perspective," it said.
The deliberations will throw up innovative thoughts to ensure that Infantry contributes effectively in dealing with the emerging challenges of the nation's security, the army said.
