The rally is covering candidates from the districts of Ludhiana, Moga, Roopnagar and SAS Nagar (Mohali) and will conclude on April 26.
Brig J S Samyal, Deputy Director General Recruiting (Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir), said 20,295 candidates have registered for the rally.
"There is a 30 per cent increase in candidate registration compared to last year," he said.
He said that on first day of the rally, 1,871 candidates participated which comprised 'soldier (Tradesman Category) of Rupnagar and SAS Nagar districts; Soldier (Technical), and Soldier (Technical Nursing Assistant) of Ludhiana, Moga, SAS Nagar and Rupnagar districts.
He said the candidates are being screened for physical fitness, measurements, medical examination and documentation.

Successful candidates would undergo a written test on May 28 and those making into the merit list would then be dispatched to various training centres for training and further induction into the services of the Army, he said.
Brig Samyal said the recruitment process is computerised and transparent involving independent and separate board of officers from various Formation Headquarters.
