The issue of arrest of Indian fishermen by Sri Lankan Navy was raised by an AIADMK member in the Lok Sabha with a demand that Indian government should address this problem.
D Gopal (AIADMK) raised the issue during the Zero Hour and wanted the government to address this.
He said the Lankan Navy had even yesterday "abducted" 42 fishermen along with their boats.
Such actions give "nightmares" to Tamil fishermen about venturing out for fishing, he said.
He said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking action into this matter.
