A colourful art fiesta, showcasing the cultural diversity and tradition of India, will mark the opening and closing ceremonies of the much-awaited 35th National Games, scheduled to be held in the state in January-February next year.
Around 2,000 artists, including well-known dancers and musicians, will perform during the inauguration and culmination of the fortnight event, organisers said in a release today.
Traditional art forms of all the 29 states of the country will be a major highlight of the event, it said.
A creative core-group and a technical-group have been formed for the smooth organising and conducting of the art shows.
State Language Institute Director M R Thampan will be the convener of the core-group in which historian and writer M G Shashibhushan, noted dancer Neena Prasad and musicians Ramesh Narayanan and G Sreeram will be the members.
Noted cinematographer Sunny Joseph and PRD deputy director Manoj Kumar will be among the members of the technical-group, of which Manoj Abraham IPS will be the convener.
A recent meeting, led by filmmaker Rajeev Kumar, the creative director of the show, discussed about various events to be included in the gala, the organisers said adding that the final structure of the art fiesta would be ready by next month.
National Games are scheduled to be held in different venues across the state from January 31 to February 14.
