Chauhan, councillor of ward number 4, was elected in presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad Pushpender Singh Chauhan.
The post fell vacant after a no-confidence motion was moved against the earlier president of Gurgaon Zila Parishad Kavita Yadav.
As the post of President of Gurgaon Zila Parishad is reserved for woman candidate, the Additional Deputy Commissioner had enquired whether any other woman councillor wanted to project herself for the post.
No one came forward and all supported Chauhan for the post, therefore, no voting took place to choose the new president.
