The Assam government today said it will fill up all vacancies in the Assam Police by recruiting over 9,600 personnel by December this year.
"The process of recruitment has started. It will be done over phases and will be completed by December. Once this is done, there will be no vacancies in the Assam Police," Assam Government Additional Chief Secretary (Home) MGVK Bhanu told reporters here.
In total 9,658 posts of various ranks would be filled up by conducting physical and written tests, he said.
"We have designed a new examination system to have a transparent recruitment process. We have extensively used IT and everything will be videographed to make it 100 per cent full-proof. Nobody can influence the recruitment process," Bhanu said.
He said 10-12 complaints have been received so far and all were being investigated.
"We have arrested one constable, two women and another person from the officially hired placement agency, besides suspending one constable after receiving complaints against them," Bhanu said.
Giving details, Commissioner and Secretary (Home) Prateek Hajela said the recruitment process has begun for the 6,748 posts of armed constables.
"A total of 3.11 lakh youths applied for these posts. The physical tests were completed in 37 centres and the written will take place on June 26. We will be ready with the final list by middle of July," he said.
In the second phase, the government will issue notification in July for filling up of 2,564 posts of unarmed constables and the process would be over by December 2015, Hajela said.
"Of these, 1,438 persons will posted with the Assam Police, 806 in the Assam Police Radio Organisation, 66 in the Special Branch, 20 in the Delhi Police, 114 in the Fire Services and 120 in the State Disaster Response Force," he said.
The government would also issue notification for recruiting 364 unarmed sub-inspectors in July, Hajela added.
