Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan today appeared before a metropolitan magistrate's court here in connection with the case related to an assault, after the prosecution last time sought bailable warrant against him for remaining absent frequently.
The hearing was today adjourned to the next week.
"On the next date of hearing copy of CCTV footage (of the alleged incident) will be given to Khan and other accused," said prosecutor Wajid Sheikh.
Saif Ali Khan and his friends Bilal Amrohi and Shakkel Ladak were arrested after Iqbal Mir Sharma, an NRI businessman, complained to the police that they assaulted him inside Taj Hotel here on February 22, 2012. All three were later released on bail.
The court has framed charges under section 325 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code against them.
Saif was accompanied by his wife and actor Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, Malaika Arora Khan, Amrita Arora and some male friends at the time of the incident.
According to police, when Sharma protested the raucous chatter of the group, Saif threatened them and subsequently punched Sharma on the nose, fracturing it. They also allegedly hit Sharma's father-in-law Raman Patel.
According to Saif it was Sharma who made provocative statements and used abusive language against the women accompanying him, which led to the ruckus.
