Assaulted Dalit youth succumbs to injuries

An 18-year-old Dalit youth succumbed to injuries today at a Delhi hospital almost a week after he was assaulted by three men in Vijay Nagar area of the district.
College student Jatin alias Bittu was allegedly thrashed by Shakti Singh, Satyadev Singh and one unknown person of his colony on August 14, police said.
He was rushed to MMG government hospital at Ghaziabad and later referred to Delhi due to his serious condition.
Jatin's father Arvind had registered a case at Vijay Nagar police station against the three persons.
Aggrieved residents of the colony put the dead body of Jatin on National Highway-24 and demanded arrest of the accused.

SHO of Vijay Nagar police station Arun Kumar Singh said that a case under Section 304 of IPC (Punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) has been registered.
