Javier Martinez, the managing director of the business development marketing and sales at the Spanish club, met the city-based co-owners of Atletico de Kolkata to discuss the team branding and marketing aspects.
"We had positive discussions to chalk out some key team branding strategies," a team source said.
The team branding exercise also includes preparing a theme song and selecting a jersey which are likely to be unveiled on July 7.
"We will get a final word from the secretariat by July 1 (Tuesday) for the programme to go ahead on July 7," the source added.
The Kolkata franchise is owned by a heavyweight consortium of former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, stock broker Utsav Parekh, Harshavardhan Neotia of Ambuja Neotia Group, Sanjeev Goenka of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group and La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.
The consortium goes by the name of Kolkata Games and Sports Private Limited for the upcoming franchise-based football league scheduled to be held from September to November.
