A key official of the Atletico Madrid's marketing and sales team today held a meeting with their city partners ahead of the ISL Kolkata franchise's grand unveiling here on July 7.
Javier Martinez, the managing director of the business development marketing and sales at the Spanish club, met the city-based co-owners of Atletico de Kolkata to discuss the team branding and marketing aspects.
"We had positive discussions to chalk out some key team branding strategies," a team source said.
The team branding exercise also includes preparing a theme song and selecting a jersey which are likely to be unveiled on July 7.
As Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would be present at the function, the Atletico de Kolkata owners are awaiting a green signal from the state secretariat, Nabanna, for the July 7 programme.
"We will get a final word from the secretariat by July 1 (Tuesday) for the programme to go ahead on July 7," the source added.
The Kolkata franchise is owned by a heavyweight consortium of former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, stock broker Utsav Parekh, Harshavardhan Neotia of Ambuja Neotia Group, Sanjeev Goenka of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group and La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.
The consortium goes by the name of Kolkata Games and Sports Private Limited for the upcoming franchise-based football league scheduled to be held from September to November.
