Auction of artworks by Rabindranath Tagore, Husain

Artworks by Rabindranath Tagore and M F Husain and other pre-Independence, modern and contemporary Indian masters are set to go under the hammer here on February 22 at an auction by Art Bull here.
Paintings, sculpture and drawings have been sourced from various art dealers and some from the collection of Siddhartha Tagore, Director Art Bull.
The upcoming the auction the total number of lots set to go under the hammer is 89 and the total worth of this auction is above 11 crore, auctioneers said.
"Art Bull unravels its fourth season of the auction, their outlook is optimistic. Over the last few years there has been a shift in the buying pattern. The recession and the post recession period have made the buyer wiser," auctioneers said.
A mixed media work by Rabindranath Tagore signed "Rabindra" in Bangla has been estimated between Rs 90 lakh to Rs 1 crore.
Other artworks from the Bengal School includes artworks by Abani Sen, Abanindranath Tagore, Abdur Rahman Chughtai, Bireshwar Sen, Chittaprosad Bhattacharya, Devi Prasad Roy Chowdhury, Jamini Roy, Manishi Dey, Nandalal Bose Nikhil Biswas, Pradosh Dasgupta, Sarada Charan Ukil, Somnath Hore, Sudhir Khastagir, Arup Das and Ganesh Pyne.
An early oil on canvas by Subodh Gupta depicting a group of bandwallahs has been estimated to fetch between Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.
Works by contemporary masters include those by Badri Narayan, Haku Shah, Manish Pushkale, Manu Parekh, Meera Mukherjee, Paresh Maity, Paritosh Sen, Rameshwar Broota, Reena Saini Kallat, Sakti Burman, Sanjay Bhattacharya, Subodh Gupta, Suhas Roy, Thota Vaikuntam and Arpana Caur.
A 1970s oil on canvas by M F Husain titled "Green Song" and signed by the late master is expected to fetch between Rs 70 lakhs to Rs 80 lakhs.
Other works include those by Syed Haider Raza, Francis Newton Souza, Hari Ambadas Gade, Ram Kumar, George Keyt, Ghulam Rasool Santosh, Jagdish Swaminathan, Manjit Bawa, Narayan Shridhar Bendre, Kattingeri Krishna Hebbar, Krishna Shamrao Kulkarni, Anil Karanjai, Kalal Laxma Goud, B Prabha, Amarnath Sehgal and Badrinath Arya.
The auction is slated to be held in Hotel ITC Maurya.
