McDonald, 44, is in final talks to portray the role of Garderobe, the singing wardrobe closet, in the Bill Condon-directed film, reported Ace Showbiz.
The upcoming film also stars Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Josh Gad, and Luke Evans.
Release date has not yet been set.
The story of "Beauty and the Beast (2017)" will center on a young woman who takes her father's place as a prisoner in a monstrous being's castle, only to fall in love with the creature.
Watson has been tapped to play the titular character Beauty, while Stevens portrays the Beast. Evans is cast as the villainous Gaston, and Gad will star as his buffoonish sidekick LeFou.
