Born and brought up in Nagpur, Chafekar is an alumnus of Defence Service Staff College, Wellington. During his 33 years of service, he has flown more than 7000 hrs on various types of aircraft, a defence release said here.
He is a Qualified Flying Instructor with over 3500 instructional hours and an expert in Air Maintenance.
Chafekar was the main coordinator during Uttarakhand flood relief, Yemen evacuation, J&K flood relief and Nepal earthquake relief work.
He commanded a Transport Squadron in Northern Sector, served as Chief Operations Officer of largest Base in IAF and was the Air Officer Commanding of premier transport Station.
