Speaking at the National Education Day and Maulana Azad's birth anniversary organised at the Maulana Azad National Urdu University here, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Ved Prakash said Azad's teachings, if he had written book in Urdu, should be translated into Hindi, Telugu and other languages.
He recalled Maulana Azad's services in the field of education and for communal harmony in the country.
An art gallery, containing the teachings of Azad in the form of writings and pictures, can be set up on the campus of the university, he said.
"I would like to make a passionate appeal. Improved excellence must be the goal of each and every department. Each and every department must be told that they have to provide the necessary tools to the children for their natural development," he said.
On the occasion, Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi said Maulana Azad began his public service and fight for freedom even before the advent of Mahatma Gandhi.
He recalled the stellar contribution of Maulana Azad and said the country's first education minister had the stature of great leaders like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
