Babbar will take over along with the other appointees, including party's chief ministerial candidate Shiela Dikshit, in the presence of senior Congress leaders in the state capital, party sources said.
This was decided after a meeting of the newly appointed leaders of state unit of Congress with the party's general secretary in charge of UP affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad here today.
However, they said whether Azad would attend the event is not confirmed yet as he may have to attend the all-party meetings convened by the government and Lok Sabha Speaker in Delhi on Sunday, ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
