A missing diary was lodged by his family with the Koraput police after he did not turn up at the railway station on his way home.
Babuli Panda is the grandson of freedom fighter Laxmi Panda. His family was felicitated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 16 in Bhubaneswar. He had allegedly gone missing on the way home after the felicitation ceremony.
Today his mother Sujata Panda arrived at the hospital and wanted to take him with her.
Babuli was discharged from the hospital around 11 am day after doctors declared him "fully cured and fit".
"We discharged the patient in the presence of the local police and a waiting police team from Koraput," informed the Medical College Principal Dr Siddharth Das.
Besides his moter, another relative was also present when Babuli left the hospital, he said.
His mother reached the hospital from Bhubaneswar sometime after Babuli left the hospital with the Koraput police.
Babuli's mother broke down after she learnt that the Koraput police took Babuli with them.
He said the Koraput police was told to intimate his family about his whereabouts.
Babuli's disappearance and his mother boarding a wrong train soon after had triggered a political mudslinging in the state between the ruling BJD and the opposition BJP.
The prime minister had felicitated family members of at least 16 freedom fighters of the state on April 16 when he had visited Odhisa for the BJP national executive meet that was held in Bhubaneswar.
