A high-level business delegation from Bahrain has held several meetings and discussions with Indian companies to explore the bilateral economic opportunities.
Transportation Minister Kamal Ahmed-led Bahraini delegation, held meetings with Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma, President CII S Gopalakrishnan and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and discussed trade and economic partnerships at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Partnership Summit, according to a statement.
"We are always delighted to come to India to build on strong economic and trade relationship that exists between the two countries," Ahmed said.
He said the high-level bilateral discussions demonstrate that India and Bahrain were already working in partnership to help businesses flourish and economies to grow.
"We look forward to welcoming the CII back to Bahrain and helping many more Indian businesses access the fast growing Gulf market."
Delegation member Dr Essam Fakhro, Chairman, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that Bahrain had been a trading hub for thousands of years.
"Bahrain is uniquely positioned within the GCC and presents Indian businesses with the ideal platform from which to access the fast growing Gulf market. Not only that, Bahrain has a number of international free trade agreements in place, including with the USA," he said.
India and Bahrain have a longstanding bilateral economic relationship strengthened by growing trade, which reached USD 1.7 billion in 2011, according to the International Monetary Fund.
