After directing 'Big B' in Cheeni Kum' and 'Paa', adman-film maker R Balakrishnan, better known as Balki, is all set to exploit the footwork of Akshay Kumar and dance exponent-actor-choreographer Prabhu Deva in a new TV commercial.
Balki, who recalled how "Mr Amitabh Bachchan would effortlessly slip into the role of a progeria-struck child" in the movie 'Paa' told PTI, "Good actors never crib or complain. They wait for the director's take and give their inputs."
"They know what is expected from themm."
Recalling the pre-production phase of 'Paa', he said "it was one subject having refused to leave me even when I left the sets. I had meet such children, their parents and teachers and would scrutinise media reports. I would also watch documentary films."
"Till this date me, and Amitji and the family of Bachchans are very mush involved with the welfare work of these differently abled kids, meeting their educational expenses, vocational needs, footing medication bills as Paa production team would alwayz stand by their family," he said.
Stating he believed music cannot be thrust on a script, and instead there are musical points to be blended with specific places, Balki said "I had grown up listening to Ilayaraja's brand of music from an early age.
"For me, music means Ilayaraja and Ilayaraja means music. I will do films as long as he accepts to score music for them," Balki, who had earlier worked with the musical wizard in Paa and Cheeni Kum reasoned.
About working with Prabhu Deva, in the new ad, Balki said "while Akshay Kumar is a showman per excellence, I consider Prabhu Deva as a dance exponent, actor/director/choreographer."
"The challenges here are two-fold - one as an ad man I have to do something new on the creative side, and secondly directing two great friends whom I have not worked with in past raises the curiosity quotient of whole thing," he said.
The ad campaign, by Dollar industries will have Akshay Kumar, Prabhu Deva me teaming up together for the first time. let's see if we can extend this for me movie in future," Balki said.
