The portal www.Wattguru.Com was inaugurated by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) Director General, Ajay Mathur.
"The portal will help take forward the movement on energising a behavioural response to save energy, a crucial factor beyond regulatory efforts," project head and Enfragy Solutions managing director Deb A Mukherjee said.
He said the portal would give a push to the engagement process through it and the social media.
"Though BEE is not involved in this portal, we want them to join in this mission of promoting behavioural response to save energy," Mukherjee said.
One unit of energy saved at the consumption level reduced the need for fresh capacity creation by 2.5 times to 3 times.
Mathur said they hoped to bring colour television and geysers under a mandatory energy rating system by the end of this fiscal.
