Two days after the students of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV) gheraoed Vice Chancellor Dharani Dhar Patra for over 24 hours, the university authorities have declared indefinite suspension of classes and ordered the students to vacate the hostels with immediate effect.
Stating the academic activities in the institute were being hampered, the BCKV authorities said in a notice posted on BCKV website on Friday night: "... all the academic activities including all classes shall remain suspended until further notice."
In another notice, the BCKV said: "the Students' Hostels (Boys' and Girls') of the Mohanpur campus of this university shall be closed with effect from 15.09.2018 and all the students residing in the said hostels shall have to vacate their respective hostels simultaneously."
