The state government was represented by home secretary Basudeb Banerjee and director-general of police Naparajit Mukherjee.
After the SEC raised objection over the choice of July 10 as the date for third phase of Panchayat polls, which coincides with Ratha Yatra festival and start of the holy month of Ramzan, the state government had yesterday suggested an alternative date of July 9.
