After having failed to elicit any response from the industry to set up theme cities the West Bengal government today decided to reduce the base price of the project.
A decision regarding this was taken at the state cabinet meeting today.
A state minister said the government had decided to set up five theme cities in Siliguri, Durgapur, Kalyani, Baruipur and Dumurjola after which tenders were floated.
Since there was no response from the private sector, the government decided to reduce the base price of the project to attract investment, the minister explained.
