The shutdown call was given by Anjuman-e-Isalamia Bhaderwah "for not initiating talks to end the unrest in the Valley".
"People of Kashmir are going through the worst but surprisingly a criminal silence is being maintained by both Union and state governments which is further aggravating the problem, and the unrest is fast spreading to Chenab Valley and other parts of the Jammu province," President, Anjuman-e-Islamia, Pervaiz Ahmed Sheikh claimed.
Shiekh said Anjuman had given the call for "peaceful bandh to lodge its protest".
