A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of state cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The fishermen welfare commission besides having a Chairman and a Deputy Chairman would have three members including one woman, Principal Secretary Cabinet Coordination Committee Brajesh Mehrotra told reporters.
He said the responsibility of the commission would be to monitor the schemes run by the government for the development of fishermen community.
They would also suggest new programmes in this connection in addition to issues related to production of seeds for fishing, he added.
