Bihar Health Minister Ramdhani Singh's daughter has resigned as librarian of state-run IGIMS here following allegation of irregularities over her appointment.
Meanwhile, hitting back at the BJP which has been demanding his resignation over the issue, Singh alleged that the senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi's wife has also been working as professor on fake degrees.
"Modi's wife has become a professor on fake certificates. He is demanding my resignation, but he should see his own face in the mirror and think before throwing mud at others. If he has even a bit of morality, he should resign from politics," Singh said.
"We are tracing out the fake certificates, and will get full information about them in a day or two. We will then submit the proof to the people," he said.
However, Modi could not be contacted as his aides said he was busy in a meeting.
Singh's outburst came after his daughter Anita Kumari resigned last night from the post of librarian at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences following Modi's demand for the minister's resignation over her 'illegal' appointment.
IGIMS officials said she handed over her resignation letter to the institute's director N R Biswas citing 'unavoidable reasons'.
Former deputy chief minister Modi yesterday demanded that Singh be sacked as he has got his over 37-year-old daughter appointed as the librarian in the IGIMS violating norms in terms of qualification and age, in addition to being regularized after being recruited on contract basis initially earlier this year.
Singh, the health minister, is ex-officio chairperson of the IGIMS board of governors.
