Bihar Police will move Patna High Court seeking cancellation of bail to Lok Sabha member and Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) founder Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav for repeatedly creating law and order problems, as well as, breaking rules.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Vikash Vaibhav today said he has directed his subordinates to reopen and expedite action in criminal cases pending against Yadav, in which he had obtained bail.
Yadav, on the other hand, accused the SSP of acting at the behest of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD president Lalu Prasad.
He said he will file case against Vaibhav for acting against him in a prejudiced manner.
Vaibhav said Yadav had recently led an agitation of Special Auxiliary Police jawans raised from retired army personnel and created law and order situation here.
"Today he and his supporters demonstrated in front of Bihar Assembly creating problems for the common people and security personnel. We cannot allow people like him, who are on bail, to repeatedly violate rules and create law and order problems. We will file a petition in High Court requesting cancellation of his bail," Vaibhav said.
Yadav won Madhepura Lok Sabha seat on RJD ticket last year by defeating JD(U) national president Sharad Yadav. He was later expelled from RJD for anti-party activities for six years, following which he floated JAP.
The police have also decided to oppose the regular bail plea moved by jailed JD(U) MLA Anant Singh facing a number of charges pertaining to kidnapping, murder, extortion and threats.
Yadav and two others had been convicted by CBI court in CPI(M) leader Ajit Sarkar's murder case and awarded life sentence. Sarkar was killed on May 14, 1998 in Purnia district, along with his driver and another party worker.
An HC division bench two years ago set aside the February 2008 conviction of Yadav and co-accused Rajan Tiwari and Anil Yadav in Sarkar murder case.
Yadav is also an accused in the infamous Purulia arms drop case, and was alleged to have facilitated the escape of prime accused Kim Peter Davy from the country.
Apart from these cases, he is also an accused in a number of cases. The Centre recently provided Yadav with a 'Y' category security cover, citing threat to his life.
