He said Furkan, a fruit trader, had helped SIMI terrorists allegedly involved in the blast on September 12 in Mohalla Jatan of Bijnor.
According to initial investigations, some youths were assembling bombs in a room they had rented in the locality under Kotwali police station area when the explosion occurred.
Nearly seven kg match sticks kept in cartons, four big packets of match boxes, low-intensity explosives and remains of a half-assembled bomb were recovered from the room.
The IG said that Rs one lakh cash was also recovered from Furkan, who helped terrorist in getting accommodation and also helped in treatment of one of the injured terrorists.
During interrogation, Furkan told police that he was given money by the terrorists.
Earlier, on September 25 , Uttar Pradesh police had pressed into service Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) in Bijnor area to trace the six suspected terrorists allegedly involved in the blast.
The UAVs had hovered over 12 villages in the Kotwali Dehat area in Bijnor after reports that the terrorists could be hiding in agricultural fields.
Uttar Pradesh police have also alerted their counterparts in Uttarakhand about the possible presence of suspected terrorists associated with the banned outfit in that state.
