According to police, the victim, who has been identified as one Rohit Aggrawal, has been admitted to Guru Teg Bahadur hospital where he is battling for life.
The incident took place at around 12.15 P.M. When one Manish Goel, who is a distributor of two mobile companies and a biscuit firm, had gone to the Kabir Nagar branch of Corporation Bank to deposit money accompanied by an associate in a car.
"In a bid to scare away the locals, the robbers fired around seven shots in the air," police said.
But, as they tried to flee, one of them fell off the bike whereupon Aggarwal, who was passing through the area, tried to nab him. Seeing that one of them could be caught, the assailants shot at Aggarwal, injuring him in the thigh, police added.
The gang managed to flee the spot after which Goel made a call to police and Aggarwal was rushed to hospital.
