Home Minister Gulabchand Kataria, replying to a discussion on the demand for grants for police and jail departments, told the Assembly that the helpline was initially launched in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota and now the government will expand it and would cover other districts with the facility.
He said an alert from the woman in trouble on the helpline will get prompt reaction from the police and help can be provided within minutes.
The minister informed the House that 39,847 girls have been trained for self defence and this programme will also be expanded in the state.
He said the speeding and rash driving would be monitored through CCTV cameras on Delhi-Ahmedabad highway passing from the state so that action against rash driving can be taken.
The minister also highlighted the need to make amendment in law to ensure strict action against drunken drivers.
He claimed that the rate of crime came down significantly in the BJP rule as compared to the previous Congress rule and presented facts in support of his claim.
The minister also made announcements for raising various allowances of police and jail department employees.
