BJP in Himachal today challenged ruling Congress to move court if the allegations made against its ministers in a charge-sheet were false.
The party rejected Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh's contention that the charges was politically motivated and said it would press for CBI inquiry into the allegations.
BJP had on Wednesday submitted a charge-sheet to Himachal Governor Urmila Singh accusing Virbhadra Singh and his cabinet colleagues of corruption and conspiracy.
"Charges made against Congress ministers and other leaders in the charge-sheet are 100 per cent correct and supported by evidence," party spokesman Ganesh Dutt told reporters.
"We will neither apologise nor withdraw our allegations and wait for retaliatory action by Congress," he said, adding that instead of ordering a CBI probe to prove their innocence, Congress leaders were overreacting and trying to bully BJP.
Alleging that corruption has crept into the Skill Development Scheme initiated by Congress, Dutt claimed that middlemen have become active and were demanding money from people who wanted to be included in the scheme.
BJP MLA Suresh Bhardwaj, who was also a member of the charge-sheet committee, said the Congress government has failed to protect the interests of Himachal in spite of being in power at the Centre.
Himachal did not get any additional special financial assistance from the Centre and all requests for revival of industrial package and assistance have gone unheeded, he said.
Bhardwaj said that the BJP had followed protocol and submitted the charge-sheet to the Governor unlike Congress which had submitted its charge-sheet against previous BJP government directly to the President of India.
