BJP demands judicial inquiry into constable's death

"The way Home Minister, Home Secretary, Delhi Chief Minister, Delhi Police Commissioner, SDM Vivek Vihar and the doctor who made preliminary examination of the constable's body were giving contradictory statements, it seems that all are hatching a grave conspiracy. This conspiracy may only be exposed by judicial enquiry," Delhi BJP Chief Vijender Gupta said.

He alleged that the government and the police were behaving in an "immoral way to cover up their mistakes and failures".

Gupta, while questioning Delhi Police Chief Neeraj Kumar's statement to media about the cause of constable's death, said "without submission of post mortem examination report, Police Commissioner gave a statement to the media yesterday that the cause of Tomar's death was injury to his chest and stomach."

Gupta said he had termed the constable's death as murder and a case would be filed for murder against eight persons.

"It shows that in order to cover up its mistakes, the police want to implicate innocent young men in a murder case. Hence, it is necessary to have impartial and high-level judicial inquiry into this case. Only such an inquiry can find out the truth," he said.

The BJP leader also accused Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit of "playing politics" and hatching conspiracy against Kumar and Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde.

"Delhi Government is also trying to take political advantage of the demonstrations.

"The way she allowed her letter to Home Minister to be leaked, it seems that she wants to make the demonstration and death of the policeman as a tool for her political game. She is neither worried about the victim nor about the constable's death. It is shameful for the Government to behave in such immoral way," Gupta alleged.

He demanded that the government, administration and Delhi Police should stop playing games in the gang rape incident and Tomar's death case.

Gupta also demanded that the report of preliminary examination after the death of Tomar should be made public.
