"Rejection of the Office of Profit Bill by the President, which was aimed at regularising appointment of 21 AAP MLAs as parliamentary secretaries and the admission of Rs 400 crore tanker scam by the government are moral defeat of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He should step down from his post," Gupta said in a statement.
The AAP government was left with "no option" but to seek resignation from all the 21 MLAs who were appointed parliamentary secretaries to the Delhi ministers, he added.
"The fact finding committee submitted its report to the Delhi government on July 15, 2015 and still Chief Minister did nothing to file an FIR with the Anti-Corruption branch (ACB) or CBI," he said.
The Delhi government yesterday recommended a probe either by the CBI or Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) against former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in connection with an alleged Rs 400 crore water tanker scam.
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP general secretary Ashish Sood also attacked Kejriwal for his comments against Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung.
Kejriwal had yesterday accused Jung of creating "obstacles" before his government at the "behest" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also said that the LG would never be made the Vice President of India by the central government.
