"I don't think it is proper for anyone to foreclose anything on the issue when the probe is not complete. It may not be proper even if he is DGP," party spokesperson Nirmala Seetharaman, part of a three-member team constituted to look into murder of state BJP president V Ramesh told reporters.
Senior BJP leader Prakash Javedkar described the statement as unfortunate and hoped government would take corrective action and do what is necessary. "We also want government to desist any officer from making any such comment."
The three member team, including Karnataka MP Anant Hegde, set up to look into the murder, told reporters after visiting sites where party leaders and right wing leaders were killed across the state that prima facie, they found these were targeted kills. "There is a pattern. On looking at the three attacks, we find that there is a pattern," they said.
Javedkar said, "they would submit their report to the party leadership in two or three days and also raise in Parliament the fundamentalist and terror angle to the murder."
Contending there is a clear case of possible fundamentalist or terror angle to it, he said the team had gathered a large amount of data, which they would share with the party leadership and the police team probing the issue.
Asked if he suspected there were a terror angle to the issue, he said, "the role of banned organisations in this issue must also be investigated."
