BJP govt neglecting interests of farmers: Raj Leader of Oppn

Rajasthan's ruling BJP was today accused of neglecting the interests of farmers as the Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly, Rameshwar Dudi, levelled a series of charges against the state government, saying Congress will take these up in the next session of the House.
Dudi claimed that a drought-like situation was looming over the state but the Vasundhara Raje government has taken no steps and made no plans for relief work.
"Farmers whose crops were damaged in the hailstorm and bad weather (last year) are still waiting for their rightful compensation.
"60 farmers committed suicide but the response of the government is very unfortunate," Dudi charged.

Talking to reporters at his residence here, he declared that Congress "will corner the government and raise the issue in the next session of the Assembly".
Dudi also demanded settlement of the long-pending disputes with neighbouring states over water sharing.
"Despite BJP being in power in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana and Rajasthan and at the Centre and forming part of the ruling alliance in Punjab, the water-sharing dispute is still unresolved," he said.
The Congress leader claimed that contaminated water in the Indira Gandhi canal was flowing into Rajasthan from Punjab and people in Hanumangarh and Sriganganagar districts were falling sick due to it but the government is "not concerned about it at all".
