Seeking to trash reports of his displeasure with the BJP, cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu today said the party was like a mother to him and "one does not leave mother".
The three-time MP from Amritsar today took part in party campaign in Haryana and was seen politically active after a long time.
"BJP is like a mother to me. And one never leaves one's mother," he said.
He further said, "I never left the political turf.."
"A man can forget everything else, but not one's mother," he told reporters on the sidelines of his poll campaigning.
He asked Haryana voters to bring BJP to power to ensure overall development of the state.
"Bring BJP to power in Haryana. When our government is formed, we will ensure overall development of the state," Sidhu said addressing a poll meeting in Ledha village of Bilaspur in Yamunanagar district.
He asked the voters to break the "Chautala-Hooda cycle", saying their parties had taken the state backward.
Sidhu told public gathering that in BJP-ruled states like Gujarat, MP and Chhattisgarh, all-round development was done and people keep reposing their faith in the BJP governments there.
"Bring BJP to power in Haryana to put the state on the path of progress," he said.
Notably, Sidhu, was three-time Lok Sabha MP from Amritsar. But, in the 2014 LS polls, he made way for senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley to contest from Amritsar.
Jaitley lost. But he went on to become Union Finance and Defence Minister in the NDA government.
