NDMC Vice Chairman and BJP leader Karan Singh Tanwar on Thursday demanded an apology from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly accusing him of being involved in the death of civic body official M M Khan in 2016.
Tanwar's demand came after a Delhi court on Tuesday summoned Kejriwal and three Aam Aadmi Party MLAs in a defamation case filed by the BJP leader.
In his complaint, Tanwar had alleged that the chief minister and AAP MLAs Amanatullah Khan, Surender Singh and Dilip Pandey tried to ruin his image as well as his political career.
"All criminals involved in the heinous crime were arrested by the Delhi Police and imprisoned within 48 hours of the gruesome murder but the chief minister and his associates in lust for publicity tried to falsely implicate me in the crime even though a thorough clean chit was given by the police," he told reporters here.
"Kejriwal should tender an unconditional apology and should also resign on moral grounds from this constitutional post of Chief Minister for maligning my image and damaging my 46-year-old political career," Tanwar added.
