A case was today registered against BJP MLA T Raja Singh by the city police for allegedly giving a provocative speech here, police said.
Based on a complaint lodged by Majlis Bachao Tehreek leader Amjedullah Khan, who accused Raja Singh of giving a provocative speech at a programme organised by a right-wing group recently, the case was registered, a police officer attached to Dabeerpura police station said.
The legislator has been booked under IPC section 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony).
Singh represents Goshamahal constituency in the city.
Further investigation into the case is on, police said.
