BJP retains control over Baroda Dairy

The ruling BJP in Gujarat today retained its control over the Vadodara district Co-operative Milk Producers' Union, popularly known as Baroda Dairy, which has an annual turnover of Rs 1,000 crore, by winning six out of the 13 seats on its administrative board today.
The election was conducted today.
Though officially the election is not contested on the party lines, members of BJP bagged six seats, that of Congress got four seats, while three seats went to independents who are BJP supporters.
Returning officer D R Patel told PTI that election of the chairman and the vice chairman will take place at the first meeting of the newly elected body which will be convened after consulting the managing director of the Dairy. It is likely to be convened after December 2.
Chairman of the outgoing board Dinesh Patel, vice chairman G B Solanki, BJP MLA Satish Nishaliya, Vadodara district Congress chief Ranjitsinh Rathwa, Sangramsinh Rathwa (son of the former union minister of state for Railways Naran Rathwa) and cooperative movement leader Dilip Patel were among those who were elected today.
