A digital print photograph that captures Kashmir's picturesque landscape along with an thread artwork inspired by Bollywood flick "Haider" are among art pieces set to be auctioned soon, proceeds of which will go to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund for the flood-affected state.

A total of 50 works are included in the 'Indian Modern and Contemporary Art Auction' by Bid Art Bull and Global Art Hub Pvt Ltd is scheduled here on November 16.

Photographer Karam Khanna's photograph of Kashmir titled "6 Hours in the Water" a digital print on archival paper taken earlier in January this year has been estimated to fetch Rs 80,000 onwards, auctioneers said.

"I spent six hours on a boat just capturing the banks of the Dal Lake and the solitude...When I saw the kind of life that it showed isolated and quiet I marveled at how delicately balanced each setup was and wondered how they possible lived their lives through so much trouble and trauma without collapsing," says Khanna in the auction catalogue.

Meanwhile designers Gunjan and Rahul's threaded landscape created as a symbol of "Haider" the Vishal Bharadwaj-directed Bollywood film starring Shahid Kapoor that they created costumes for, has been estimated at Rs 40,000.

Titled "Haider" the silk threads on a frame portrait that looks more like a landscape.

The curator Uma Nair say the artist designers have been "inspired by the makeup of Shahid Kapoor with an emphasis on below the nose contours and the trimmed in bearded jawline."

"Gunjan Rahul appropriates the idea and extends the simple line of eyebrows to the nose and connect the eyes portraying a simple yet vivid expression. The expression of Shahid's face is not their signature style but a successful fusion of Indian and Western art that presents a sophisticated concept in great simplicity," says Nair.

Works of modern masters like F N Souza, S H Raza, Ram Kumar, M F Husain, Amrita Sher-Gill, Kishen Khanna and Arpita Singh along with those by contemporary masters sourced from private collections like Paresh Maity, T Vaikuntham, Pradosh Dasgupta and Arun Pandit are featured in the show.

Bid Art Bull founded in 2012 has recently associated with Global Art Hub Pvt Ltd. To look at returns on the collecting and selling of modern and contemporary art.
