Bomb squad retrieves hand grenade

Bomb squad of Manipur police today retrieved a hand grenade after locals of Hiyanthang area in Imphal West district informed the concerned police station.
The hand grenade was later successfully detonated at a paddy field.
The hand grenade was found lying besides an oil pump around 7 am, a police officer said.
It was suspected to have been placed in connection with extortion activities by unidentified militant groups, the officer said.
