Assam brave girl Gunjan Sharma and four of her family members were critically injured when their vehicle lost control and skid off from the road on her way to receive a bravery award from the state Chief Minister today.
According to the police, a multi-utility vehicle, carrying Gunjan's parents, sister and uncle, lost control due to heavy fog and skid off on the National Highway-37 in the wee hours near Hatikhuli Tea Estate under Bokakhat police station in Golaghat district.
All six injured, including the driver, were rushed to Bokakhat Primary Health Centre and were later shifted to Jorhat Medical College Hospital.
Gunjan along with her parents and relatives were on the way to Guwahati to receive a state bravery award from Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi this morning.
The Class VIII girl from Nazira in Sivasagar went into national limelight last month after she volunteered to be taken away by kidnappers in lieu of 10 other school kids in the school bus.
The kidnappers had taken her away and released the other children. She, however, managed to flee from the captivity next morning.
