Brother-Sister duo catch burglar

A 12-year-old boy and his elder sister chased two burglars who had allegedly broke into their residence at south Delhi's Khirki Extension area and managed to overpower one, police said today.

The siblings, Akshay Sharma and Akshataya Sharma (16), came home early from school. They found the lock broken and also sensed someone's presence inside the house, said police.
When they asked who was there inside, the burglars asked back the same question, following which they rushed inside and saw two men standing with two gunny bags. They chased one of them and later overpowered him, the other managed to escape with a bag containing around Rs 5 lakh cash and jewellery, said police.
Later, locals called up the police and the nabbed burglar was handed over to them on Tuesday.
With his interrogation, the police came to know about a gang, which conduct recees and target houses in the afternoon hours. They had also receed around the Sharma residence on two occasions before executing their plan on Tuesday, said police.
Whila Akshay is a student of Class 7, his elder sister is in 10th standard. Both are students of a private school in Malviya Nagar. Their father works for a construction company and their mother is employed at a school.
A team has been constituted and they are searching for the other gang members, police added.
