Budget session of J&K Assembly to begin on stormy note

The budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly is set to begin on a stormy note tomorrow as the opposition is geared up to grill the Omar Abdullah government on various issues, including the arrest of ousted minister Shabir Khan in a molestation case.
The session will begin amid tight security from tomorrow, an official spokesman said, adding, Governor N N Vohra would address a joint session in the Central Hall of JK Legislature Complex Main Hall tomorrow at 10.30 am.
The session is expected to witness uproar by Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP), People's Democratic Party (PDP), BJP and CPI(M) members.
Opposition will raise various issues including the arrest of ousted minister Shabir Khan in a molestation case, JKCA scam involving NC supremo Farooq Abdullah, custodial death of NC worker Yousuf Shah, demand for more administrative units, removal of AFSPA, regional discrimination and BOPEE scam.
JKNPP has decided to gherao the Assembly premises to demand dismissal of the NC-Congress government.
"There are lots of issues - from corruption to failure of governance on all fronts - and we will raise them vociferously," a PDP spokesman said.
Speaker Mubarak Gul, who chaired an all-party meeting, said that he would provide ample time and opportunities to the legislators to highlight public-centric issues for seeking redressal of problems confronting people.
He stressed for joint efforts to ensure smooth running of the House.
Legislators assured their full cooperation in the smooth conduct of the session at the meeting.
The budget session, last one of the present Omar-government, is likely to be 36 days long.
