Budgetary allocation for Depatt of Space may be hiked: govt

The budgetary allocation for the Department of Space for 2015-16 is proposed to increase by 27 percent more than the revised estimate allocation during the previous financial year, the government today said.
In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for the Department of Space, said the requirement of funds for space technology is driven by programmatic targets envisaged during the coming years.
Last year, the government had initially allocated Rs 6000 crore for the Department of Space but later revised it to Rs 4500 crore.
"The increased allocation is proposed to be utilised for the programmatic requirement in the areas of development of Advanced Communication Satellites, development of Advanced Launch Vehicle Technology, High Resolution Imaging System, Satellite Navigation System, Space Science and Planetary Exploration and Disaster Management Support Progammes," Singh said.
