A real rabbit was involved in the famous bunny boiling scene from the 1987 movie "Fatal Attraction".
Glenn Close's character boils a bunny owned by the family of the man (Michael Douglas) she becomes obsessed with after an affair in the movie.
In order to make the scene realistic, the film crew opted to use a real but dead bunny, according to an excerpt from an upcoming biography on film executive Sherry Lansing.
The filmmakers got a dead rabbit from a butcher for that particular scene, revealed the excerpt, published in The Hollywood Reporter
"We tried to take its innards out to make it real," says director Adrian Lyne in the book "Leading Lady".
"But then it didn't have any heft. It was just like a little bit of skin. So we had to boil it with all of its innards."
Actress Anne Archer's shock reaction after discovering the dead bunny was also real.
"The stench was beyond belief. That probably helped Anne because the smell was so bad," the book said.
