Vehicles and road construction machinery were set ablaze on Saturday by Naxals in Sukma district in Chhattisgarh, police said.
Naxals stormed a road construction site near Chidpal village under Tongpal police station limits in the afternoon and burnt down two trucks, a water tanker and a concrete mixer machine belonging to a private firm, an official said.
"The work underway is part of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Despite the contractor being warned not to carry out work until adequate security is in place, he continued construction activities. His vehicles were seized recently for ignoring security warnings applicable to conflict-ridden areas," he said.
A police team is at the site and efforts are on to nab the culprits, he added.
